How to get your Ohio Agent / Broker’s License via Real Estate Reciprocity
Reciprocity of Ohio: All StatesHere are the steps to obtain your Ohio Real Estate License through reciprocity:
The real estate education requirements will be waived if you’re a qualified applicant currently licensed in another state.
1. If you’ve been a real estate agent for at least 1 year in another state, you’ll only need to take the Ohio State portion of the test.
2. For more information on getting your real estate license for an Ohio Salesperson (agent) / broker via reciprocity, you can review the application for an Ohio Reciprocal License here and visit the Ohio Department of Commerce’s website.
3. Contact any active Ohio broker and ask them to “sponsor” (sign) that you will be a new agent with them (any approved Ohio Real Estate Agency that is accepting new agents). Essentially this is the same as hanging your license as you do today, but asking a broker in advance before you’re an agent of Ohio.
4. Get approved by the Ohio Department of Commerce (mail in your application document) and complete the fingerprinting for a background check.
